Chibiusa: Where is the Love?
Hmmm. It seems that a lot of people dislike (hate?) Chibiusa because of her awful personality. To some extent, I understand them. She basically showed little or no respect to the younger version of her Mother and made her love life miserable in the R season. But did you know she had redeeming qualities too? I'm serious ^_____________^;;
There was a reason why she was mean to Usagi when she first appeared. She was, after all, being chased by people who not only destroyed her home, but also hurt her parents. She was transported to a timeline where everything was unfamiliar and she couldn't go back because she was weak and powerless. Of course she was going to be bitter about her situation. And since ditzy and temperamental Usagi was there, she became the target of Chibiusa's anger.
How about the fact that she wanted to keep Mamoru for herself, you ask? Her wanting to be with him all the time didn't really mean she was in love with him. It just meant that since she considered herself all alone in the twentieth century, she wanted a father figure. Because Mamoru was a patient person when it came to dealing with Usagi's childlike (childish?) traits, Chibiusa saw that in him. And because she knew that hanging out with Mamoru all the time irked the older odangoed girl so much, she flaunted this. There was nothing incestuous about her feelings for him. She was only a child, for heaven's sake!
What about after she found out who her future parents were? Why was she still being mean to Usagi? Perhaps the reason was because she never thought her Mother (Neo-Queen Serenity) was ditzy when she was younger. In her mind, her Mom was graceful, patient, and refined. Seeing the present Usagi trip all over the place and pig out unnerved her. Anyway, it wasn't like she was a complete jerk. There were times when she was actually nice to the older girl. Watch the SuperS movie and the end of the Nehelenia saga if you don't believe me.
What about all the pink? Well, I kinda think it's cute. It represented her childlike (childish?) personality rather well. I know the usage of this colour on her was too much for some people to handle (pink hair, pink fuku, pink everything), but what can they do? Naoko created that way.
And the red eyes? I bet you're thinking, "Her red eyes and rotten attitude are proofs that she's the devil's spawn." Well, I know it may be impossible for two people with blue eyes to have a red-eyed offspring unless one or both of them carry a recessive gene or there's a mutation somewhere. But let's face it; genetics (or science in general) doesn't really apply in anime/manga, particularly in the magical shoujo genre. If it does, then Ami wouldn't have natural blue hair, there wouldn't be any magical girls fighting monsters, there wouldn't be reincarnations, et cetera.
